Madison-based musical ensemble Disaster Passport will be live onstage at The Commons, performing their original score to accompany Godfrey Reggio’s towering 1982 masterpiece of poetic image cinema: “Koyannisqatsi.” The film will be shown on the big screen in the theater, alongside the musicians.

Show starts at 7 pm. Admission is $6 at the door.

“Koyaanisqatsi” was Reggio’s first film after spending 16 years in complete meditative silence. The word comes from native Hopi language, translating as world out of balance.

The Qatsi trilogy (beginning with Koyaanisqatsi) has transformed cinema and defined a genre with its unforgettable imagery and music. Entirely wordless, it has left an indelible mark in the minds of generations of viewers.

Disaster Passport has been performing their new musical score accompanying the film to full-house enthusiastic audiences all over the Madison area. This is truly an experience not to be missed.
