The Ark Operating Theatre is a new in-house acting company. Our mission is to bring immersive, transformative experiences to the stage, in order to lend depth of thought and feeling to the issues of our time as well as the eternal myseries. We are delighted to offer original works that draw from a range of dramatic traditions, especially ritual and mythic drama, improvisational theatre, and avant garde performance art. We are also excited to present theatre experiences for children.
In the Fall of 2018, we have premiered a 70-minute multi-media pantomime piece, “The Door,” exploring our shared experience of peripheral spaces and the mysterious edge of life and death.
We also staged a one-night, three-show “pop-up” theatre experience for Halloween — “Fallout Shelter:” a 15-minute modern dramatization of E.A. Poe’s “The Cask of Amontillado,” set in a survivalist’s bunker.
We have made an original adaptation of James Thurber’s bizarre and wonderful children’s story, “The Thirteen Clocks,” and we will be giving six performances in January. This show is weird fun for all ages. Advance tickets will be available online here soon!
